Mass State Tournament & Next Season's Girls Program

Just a reminder our girls teams are scheduled to play in the tier 3 MA Hockey StateTournament the weekend of March 7-9. Tournament will be at Lovell Arena https://lovellarena.com/ in Rockland MA, about an hour drive depending on traffic. If you haven't been to this rink, you're in for a treat as they have a full service restaurant, golf simulators and a bowling alley.

Each team will have one game Friday night and 2 games on Saturday. Semi-finals and finals are Sunday. We are looking into getting a block of rooms at a local hotel for those interested in booking a room for Friday night. Depending on game schedules, we also may be able to make reservations at a local restaurant for dinner. Please let your coaches know if you will be available for the games.

As for next season, we are knee deep in the planning phases already. Evaluations will be the week of March 10-14. Each age group will host a one hour evaluation session that week. Fortunately, our evaluations will not conflict with the local girls club teams as in year's past as they can not begin tryouts until March 17th. Evaluations ice times will be announced soon.

As for what to expect for next season, we plan on continuing to offer our weekly skills sessions with Courtney Sheary & Erika Hammer while continuing to skate in the Middlesex League and hosting Saturday games at Phillips. Depending on enrollment, we may have 1 or 2 teams per age grouping. Our budget committee is also working to see if we can add elev802 back into the mix as well as looking at other potential offerings.

If you could please respond to this email and let me know if your daughter is planning on skating with AHA again next season, it would be greatly appreciated. We'd also like to hear any feedback on this current season and feel free to share any ideas or voice any concerns. Lastly, if you are interested in getting more involved with AHA, please let me know. There are a few areas our girls program could use some assistance. Thank you.

All the Best,

Good Morning u12

Great win for the girls this weekend. Happy to see the kids playing team hockey and hustling each and every shift. Let's keep this rolling.

Please check the schedule as we have practice times posted through January. With Phillips hockey teams back on the ice, our schedule will differ from the front half of the season. We have skills Wednesday with Erika at 7:20, FRIDAY practice at 7:20 and a 2:30 game on Saturday. The rink is closed From Christmas through New Year's Day, no practices or games, enjoy the break.

Andover High School's girls team has begun their season. We will continue to have a "player of the week" selected from our girls program to skate with the team during home game warm-ups. Please follow this link https://andoverhsgoldenwarriorsathletics... to see their schedule. Jon Hutcheon from elev802 is now the head coach which is great for the AHA program. We hope you are able to attend as many home games as possible.

u12 updated schedule...

We made a change this morning to our practice schedule for this week. We will NOT be going to elev802 tomorrow at 5pm. We WILL be practicing with the u14 at 7:40 tomorrow instead. We have too many players to host a practice at elev802 and had to make the change. Sorry for the late notice.

Our 7:20 skills with Courtney on Wednesday remains the same. If any kids are interested, they are also welcome to stick around and skate with the u14 at 8:30 as well. 1:20 game Saturday against Billerica at Phillips. Please let us know who is available to play. Thank you.

Open Skate schedule changes...

Hello u12. We are moving our open skate from Friday evenings to Sundays at 10:40am on the Harrison sheet for the remainder of the season. The skate will be bi-weekly moving forward.

With Phillips ice hockey teams now in season, we've lost access to the Friday ice time. We are also adding all girls scrimmages for our u8 team as the VHL only offers coed games.

For December, we will have an Open Skate for our girls u8, u10, u12 & u14 on December 8th & 22nd at 10:40am on the Harrison sheet. We will start up again on Sunday January 12th and host an open skate every other week through mid March. The AHA calendar will update soon with the proper dates.

Obviously this is an optional ice time, but we encourage all our girls to attend. I understand scheduling conflicts, but it would be great to get as many kids as possible to take advantage of the ice time as it is expensive.

Lastly, we have a 9am game in Melrose on Saturday. Please update availability so we can see who will be attending. Late practice at 7:40 Tuesday as well as 7:40 Erika Hammer on Wednesday.

Any questions, let me know. Thanks.

Andover Santa Parade!!

Good morning u12. Andover Hockey's girls program will be marching in the https://andoversantaparade.com/ on Sunday December 1st at 1pm.

Please arrive at approx 12:30 and meet behind the Andover Senior Center. Please wear your Andover game jersey for the parade.

If we could have a pair of parents / coaches / moms March with the kids in the parade, that would be most helpful. Every hockey playing girl in Andover is invited and encouraged to attend. Thanks and enjoy Thanksgiving.

Hello u12!!

Check out the attached flyer for Friday's Merrimack women's hockey game. We are inviting our girls program to attend the game. We will NOT be hosting our usual Friday night open ice in lieu of attending the Merrimack game. Hopefully we can get a good showing.

Good Morning u12,

There seems to be a hiccup between AHA's Crossbar site and the Middlesex League where a few of the games on our schedule are not being displayed on the AHA family calendar. We are working to figure this out ASAP.

In the meantime, please follow this link https://www.mycgl.com/season_management_... to the Middlesex League website to view our games for the month of September. We are skating Sunday at 12:45 at Nashoba Olympia Rink against Needham.

Also, we activated the attendance link via Crossbar. Please update your status for game days via the website so we know who will be on the ice. Thank you very much.

Good Morning u12!

We have a full sheet of ice to ourselves for practice tonight at 6:30. Tomorrow we'll get our first session with Courtney Sheary for skills at 7:20 paired with the u14, this should be good. Friday at 6pm is the open skate which was pretty well attended last week. Game 1 of the Middlesex League is Sunday at 12:45 at everyone's favorite rink, Olympia Rink in Boxboro, bring your flashlights.

As usual, the first 4-6 games will be parity so we may end up smoking teams or be on the receiving end of a beating. We also have a big roster this season so please be patient with the results, pairings, etc. Let's do this!!

Friday Open Ice!!

Just a heads up AHA is offering an open sheet of ice for our girls program on Fridays at 6pm throughout the season. Our HSHS as well as u10, u12, and u14 teams are encouraged to attend for pick up hockey. You should see the ice time listed as a "practice" on your family schedules in Crossbar. We tried this last season with great success.

The idea is to let the girls have an hour to skate, play pick up, cross ice, have shooting contests, basically have fun without coaches instruction, think pond hockey. Full equipment is required and we only ask for those attending to include everyone in whatever games materialize. Thank you.

Welcome u12!!!

Hard to believe hockey season starts Tuesday but here we are. Hope everyone had a great summer! Our practice and skills schedule has been uploaded onto the AHA website through Thanksgiving. Middlesex League games have been scheduled for the month of September. You can the access team's calendar via the AHA website and going to the u12 team homepage.

We've mixed up our girls offering this season to include a dedicated weekly skills session. We are very fortunate to have Erika Hammer and Courtney Sheary alternating on Wednesdays. Erika will be focused on skating and edges while Courtney and her team will provide game specific training. If you're not familiar with Courtney, she played at UNH and the Boston Blades, coached at Dartmouth and Boston College. We are lucky to have her involved with our girls program this season.

We will have 1 practice per week, 1 skills session, 1 open skate, and 1 game per weekend. Friday night open skates will begin September 13 and are designed to provide open ice for pick up games. Practices will be on Tuesday's through Thanksgiving, skills will be on Wednesdays through Thanksgiving, and once parity is over, we will have 1 Middlesex game per weekend.

Myself, Dan Tamasanis, and Chris Russell will be coaching the u12 this season. If anyone is interested in helping out as a team manager, please let me know. We do have a large roster this year with 2 terrific goalies in Aisling Taylor and Brooke Bond.

Please be patient as we figure out the best way to distribute playing time and mix line combinations while remaining competitive. As usual, the first handful of Middlesex games are for parity which may be lopsided in one direction or the other.

Welcome to the team and we are looking forward to another fun season. Any questions, let me know. Thank you.
