All AHA Coaches need to be certified at the appropriate USA Hockey Hockey Level (see the AHA Coaching Guidelines in the 'Coaching Documents' section below for detail as to the specific levels required). You need to be certified in order to go on the practice ice and behind the bench during the season.

The AHA Skills Progression Book focuses on on-ice aides for coaches to understand the proper skills progression for the various levels and plan practices and small games to aide in player development.We would encourage you to visit the USA Hockey.com web site (hot linked on AHA site) and look under Coaching materials/Practice plans.There is a complete listing of practice plans & demos for each age level.It is a great resource to make the most of your practice ice. Also please look at the AHA Small Area Games book.
